BioPersonality: Kenpachi is a tough and focused man who loves the thrill of a challenging fight, relishes running into people who can cut him, and enjoys carrying around his adopted little girl on his shoulder. He is the captain of the 11th Division, having earned that title and position by killing the man who formerly held them.
At the same time, though, he enjoys sitting back and having a cup of sake. When there’s not a fight to be had or a mission to run, Kenpachi is easy-going, and prone to smiling and chatting. There are only two ways to piss Kenpachi off: act cowardly, or attack/hurt Yachiru (verbally or physically.) Otherwise, he’s pretty affable.
Background: Kenpachi doesn’t remember much about his life before he found Yachiru. It was a blur of hunting down the next challenge, until she crawled up to him, blood-stained, and eagerly reached out a hand to touch his sword. He wouldn’t say it, since he doesn’t tend to get nostalgic or go for the deep happy thoughts, but that moment transformed his life.
When talk reached his ears about Captains in Soul Society having newer and more dangerous Hollows to fight all of the time, he knew where he was headed. Kenpachi has never been one for sitting and waiting in classes to learn, so he took the challenge that appealed to him – killing the former captain – and hasn’t ever regretted it.
